The debate between GMO vs. non-GMO has been going on for many a year now. There are only a few unbiased pieces of research about GMO as most articles would usually state the great disadvantages of GMOs than non-GMOs.
Due to this, shoppers already have this misperception and hence, would always choose non-GMO or organic products than GMO ones.

GMOs or genetically modified organisms are a type of organisms (specifically animals and plants) whose genetic materials or characteristics were deliberately manipulated through genetic engineering. Crops are the most common type of GMOs.
The idea in GMO is improving the nutritional value of a particular plant by extracting genes from the DNA of other unrelated plants and animals and forcing them in the plant.
Basically Non-GMO crops are plants which genes have not been modified. While all organic are non-GMOs, not all non-GMOs are organic. These crops are still exposed to toxic pesticides and fertilizers and other methods that could be detrimental to the environment.
While most state that non-GMO crops are more nutritious than GMO, according to studies, both actually have no nutritional differences. As stated by Dr. Lemaux, if anything, GMOs’ nutritional contents are more improved. GMO crops are tested for safety, health, and nutrient value before releasing it in grocery stores or the marketplace.
Gene modification of plants by farmers and scientists has been around for centuries now. While fears from GMOs are still ongoing, scientists have finally stated that there is no substantial evidence that GMO crops are less safe than non-GMO ones.
For instance, research experts did not find any scientific evidence that GMOs have any strong relationship with allergic reactions, diabetes, autism, tumor, and other sicknesses.
Hence, most fears are generally theoretical. But even with scientist and other research experts putting an end to the GMO vs non-GMO debate with their recent findings, it will still take a while to fully stop the stigma against GMO crops.
In the end, even with the differences of views between GMO vs. non-GMO, no food product can be considered as 100% safe.
