Durian vs. Jackfruit – Jackfruit and Durian fruit look quite similar to each other, but they are actually quite different. The Jackfruit is part of the fig and mulberry clan and has been known to grow as big as 35kg! Despite their vaguely similar appearances, the Durian fruit is unrelated to the fig family.

Both are usually greenish in color and both have rough looking skins. The Durian, however, has a much spikier shell than that of the Jackfruit and in fact, the spikes have been known to puncture the skin

Both fruits are well known for having a rather unpleasant odor. Where Jackfruit tends to smell a bit like fermenting pineapples or onions, Durian has been compared to the smell of sewage!

Their outer appearance may be similar, but once you open them up, the similarities end. The Jackfruit is bright yellow in color, has a textured appearance, is very sweet and somewhat crunchy. The Durian fruit is paler inside and its flesh is divided into has a creamier texture. It has a sweet flavor with a slightly acidic aftertaste.
